Job Details

Our Buildings & Facilities Maintenance Section is looking for a self motivated Plumber/Gasfitter to perform preventative maintenance and service/repair operations on various mechanical systems and components in a variety of City facilities. You will learn about all aspects of the trade while working in a safe, clean, and secure environment with state of the art tools and up-to-date training. 

Specific duties include: 

  • Install components, repair/replacement kits on plumbing fixtures and trim 
  • Clean, adjust, test and repair gas fired heating appliances (natural and propane gas) 
  • Perform emergency repairs to plumbing and heating systems on a rotational 24 hour call out basis
  • Install, alter/modify drainage waste and vent systems 
  • Install, test and repair cross-connection control devices 
  • Repair and perform preventative maintenance duties to pool filtration systems 
  • Repair, adjust and winterize irrigation systems 
  • Install, test, and maintain gas (propane and natural) piping, valves, regulators, supports and hangers
  • Report on a daily basis the status of work progress and condition of equipment/systems 
  • Operate service vehicles and maintaining a "Truck Stock" consisting of tools and materials 
  • Perform all tasks in a safe and environmentally correct manner and advising Foreman/Supervisor of any health and safety or environmental protection concerns 
  • Record work in SAP Plant Maintenance system 
  • Attend and participate in safety and environmental protection meetings and training 
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Journeyman Plumber Certificate and a Journeyman Gasfitter A. The Gasfitter B will be considered at the 4th year apprentice level. Certificate must be recognized by Government of Alberta Advanced Education and Technology
  • Knowledge of building maintenance procedures, construction methods, and regulatory codes in the Plumbing/Gasfitting trades 
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade and ability to work safely with a variety of power tools 
  • Knowledge and ability to read/interpret blueprints, layout, quantity take offs for ordering of the required materials
  • Experience in the maintenance and service of plumbing, heating, boiler and pool related systems is an asset
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failures 
  • Strong communication and customer service skills (written and verbal) 
  • Commitment to continual learning, teamwork and providing excellent customer service 
  • Ability to work as a member of a team or to work independently 
  • Hire is dependent upon an Enhanced Police Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton

As an Admin Support Clerk, you will be responsible for entering payroll information, supporting the Notification Order process and providing administrative support as required for the Waste Services Branch business operations.

Your success will be measured by your ability to complete orders on time and ensure employees are paid accurately, along with correct data entry.

What will you be doing? 

  • Input payroll data into PeopleSoft system and ensure every employee gets the correct payroll payment each pay period
  • Make any changes to employee hours as requested by their supervisors, ex- Bank Used time, modified duty, medical, vacation, etc.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies with employees, their supervisors, and occasionally with the payroll team in Employee Services
  • Reconcile any differences between employee gang sheets and payroll data in the system including employment status, time entries, pay rate, weekend premiums, shift differentials, override rate, time codes each pay period
  • Update spreadsheets for various areas in Waste Collection Service for tracking of daily tonnages, KPI’s, overtime, and overweight loads
  • Create notification orders, update information provided by inspectors, contractors, the Customer Support Team or Waste Supervisors and distribute the created notification orders
  • Track and monitor notification orders for completion, closing and distributing to Waste Inspectors
  • Receive notification orders from supervisors and contractors for processing and/or distribution
  • Create new sites, update billing changes and enter information into Active List, Database and CIS systems
  • Provide administrative and reception support to the ongoing operations of the business area, including support for Branch and Department staff and general public inquiries via email, phone or in-person
  • Schedule and organize meetings - prepare the boardroom, take minutes, and create agendas
  • Ensure document management, retention, disposition and distribution, adhering to FOIP requirements

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, including business subjects with an emphasis on general office practices, or completion of an office administration certificate
  • Two (2) years progressively responsible related administrative experience, preferably in payroll administration and procedures

Reporting to the manager of the Professional Standards, Development, and Logistics (PSDL) unit, the Logistics Specialist position will support procurement, lifecycle management, logistics, fleet services and implement continuous improvement initiatives for the Community Standards and Neighbourhood’s branch. 

The Logistics Specialist will contribute to the CSN branch’s goals of creating an efficient, easy to use, and successful equipment management system in collaboration with contract administrators, operational contract managers, and with the direction from the PSDL manager.

  • Liaise and consult with business partners in assigned portfolios to proactively plan ahead for anticipated procurement activities
  • Provide multifaceted advice to internal branch business partners on procurement procedures, methods, and approaches (which includes procurement principles and practices, trade agreements, and contract/tender law)
  • Assist with budget preparation and expenditure control, both operating and capital, and oversees Branch’s equipment projects

A Labourer II in Infrastructure Maintenance is a semi-skilled manual labour position. Tasks of this nature involve the use of some acquired skills.   • Travel to various job sites in relation to a predetermined schedule
  • Participates in on site field condition review and hazard assessments

Qualifications
