Asset Management Bridge Engineer Full-time Job

The vision of the Integrated Infrastructure Services (IIS) department is to inspire trust among citizens and Council in their commitment and ability to deliver quality infrastructure. The Transportation Asset Management (TAM) unit within the Lifecycle Management Section of IIS helps ensure the future of Edmontonians by enabling and implementing asset management best practices to maximize the value obtained from goods movement and auxiliary structure assets.
Reporting to the TAM Engineering Program Manager, the Asset Management Bridge Engineer will utilize their engineering, asset management and project management knowledge and skills to support the asset management of bridges, Light Rail Transit (LRT) tunnels, structural culverts and auxiliary structures (noise walls, retaining walls, overhead sign structures, stair cases, guard rails, etc.).
With a focus on the City of Edmonton’s Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will be:
- Complete asset management & rehabilitation strategies/plans to support the overall renewal program, including:
- Develop asset management plans and supporting their implementation
- Gather and analyze data (condition, cost, maintenance, project, etc.) to develop renewal plans
- Participate in enhancements to the bridge management systems including business case development, specifications, user acceptance testing and quality assurance
- Gather input (condition data, tentative renewal scope of the work, time, remaining service life, cost and schedule etc) for internal stakeholders
- Provide data for the periodic State and Condition of Infrastructure Report
- Coordinate regional updates to the bridge strategy / mastersheet database to facilitate annual data entry for bridge replacement and rehabilitation work activities
- Develop information required for the 4 year Capital Budget & associated Supplemental Capital Budget Adjustments and 10 year Capital Investment Outlook. (e.g. developing and maintaining guidelines for bridge and tunnel data components of RIMS)
- Assist Engineering Program Manager in leading strategy (renewal) and developing project scopes for the rehabilitation of bridges and auxiliary structures with respect to condition and life cycle costing as well reviewing assessment/inspections reports
- Assist with the prioritization and reprioritization of projects and renewal project scopes based on changing conditions and emergent issues (e.g. emergency situations, budget constraints, etc.)
- Authenticate professional work products such as, but not limited to, renewal technical memos, components of asset management plans, lifecycle estimates (e.g. remaining useful life of assets) and technical project scope statements
- Manage lower complexity Level 2 Assessments contracts and rehabilitation strategies for bridges, tunnels and auxiliary structures, including:
- Develop scopes of work for review and approval
- Coordinate and prepare required procurement documentation and processes to enable the engagement of consultants, including Standing Arrangements
- Perform project management administrative functions, as required by PMRG, to facilitate the completion of the Level 2 Assessment projects and/or rehabilitation strategies. Including preparation of project management (scope, cost, schedule, risk, etc.), financial documents, contracts, etc. for review and approval
- Monitor and report on Level 2 Assessment and rehabilitation strategy projects to enable the projects are completed on-budget, on-schedule, and within the defined scope and quality
- Prepare Project Scope Statements (PSS), support checkpoint 1 readiness activities, support project charter (PC) development and review of project change requests (PCRs) as needed
- Support project workshops and assessments
- Provide assistance on procurement (as needed) to other stakeholders (IPD, PARS, BGN and LRT)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. A Master’s Degree in bridge engineering or infrastructure asset management would be an asset
- Must be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in good standing and registered with APEGA. Applicants in a different Canadian jurisdiction eligible for Inter-Provincial Mobility (IPMA) with APEGA may be considered. Registration with APEGA must be obtained prior to commencement of employment
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience in bridge planning or design and/or inspection and maintenance or combination of engineering and project management experienceIn-depth knowledge and application of Alberta Bridge Inspection and Maintenance practices would be an asset
- Familiarity with other engineering disciplines related to bridge engineering, such as structural design, materials and construction would be an asset.
- Coursework/training in project management; financial management; or other leadership training and as a Level A BIM Inspector by Alberta Transportation is an asset
- Training/experience with SAP financial tracking software and eBMS software used by the City is an asset
- Strong technical skills in bridge asset management processes related to architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and/or landscaping disciplines
- Strong project management skills including an understanding of project management methods and techniques (PMBOK best practices)
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in the delivery of projects
- Experience developing and implementing public engagement processes
- Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills with experience in solving complex and sensitive issues
- Working knowledge of CHBDC codes and Alberta Transportation Bridge Manual and Specifications, legislation, regulations,policies and procedures (OH&S, Environmental, Builders Lien Act, etc.)
- Excellent communication, verbal, written, interpersonal, customer service, organized, time management, prioritization skills

Qualifications

- 1+ year(s) of Elections experience would be considered an asset

The Edmonton Police Service requires an Intelligence and Investigative Support Clerk with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to provide support to the Field Intelligence Officer (FIO) and members of Patrol, Crime Suppression and Investigative Response (IRT) Branches. Reporting to the Administrative Staff Sergeant of the Branch, this position will be responsible for performing the following duties:
- Updating the Offender Tracking spreadsheet with court dates, conditions, warrants and MO information
- Running dashboard and patrol management reports to be used for presentations at all different levels within the Branch.
- Maintaining Section spreadsheets, logs and dashboards
- Collecting statistical data on city-wide prevalence of crime trends, series or events.
- Compile and disseminate daily/weekly/monthly/yearly statistics assisting with the creation and updating of Target Sheets, Subject Profiles, and Person of Interests.
- Assisting the FIO Constables with the creation and posting of EPS Net Bulletins.
- Manage, track and input flags within NICHEUA
- Assisting Investigative Response Teams in the creation and maintenance of investigative products and preservation and organization of that information.
- Assist in the analyzing data obtained via Production Orders.
- Create and maintain offender show cause/bail packages and CRIIs.
- Convert various types of documents and reports into electronic formations.
Qualifications
- Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects related to word and information processing or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college, supplemented by training in basic computer applications.
- A minimum of two (2) years diversified word and information processing experience.
- Proven team player.
- Experience in a public customer service-oriented environment.
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office suite products, particularly Excel and Visio.
- Proficient in CARM.
- Proficiency in NICHEUA
- Extensive experience in the maintenance of databases and the preparation of performance management reports.
- Applicants may be tested.
- As part of your pre-hire screening, you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance.
