The Data Centre Technician (DCT) is the initial point of contact at the facility and is responsible for ensuring the data centre and building are maintained in a professional and secure manner. Ensuring positive experiences for customers as they enter, exit, and work at the data centre is also a primary responsibility. The DCT will be the first responder and primary point of contact for incidents in the data centre. This position reports to the Data Centre Manager. Edmonton has 2 Data Centres. During the work week, the employee in this position may be requested to work out of either of the 2 Data Centres.

 

Reliability Level Security Clearance: Reliability Level Security Clearance is required for Rogers to be awarded government and private sector Colocation and Managed Services contracts which involve protected and classified information; As such, depending on your location, you may be required to obtain Reliability Level Security Clearance post hire which will require you to be fingerprinted. Additionally, you may be requested to provide 5 years of criminal background checks from your country of residence for the last five years. This is a condition of employment in some Data Centre locations and if unable to obtain Reliability Level Security Clearance where required, may result in termination of employment.

 

What you'll be doing:

- Security, Ensuring the property is secure for tenants and clients, management of access cards, surveillance monitoring, investigation of problem situations.

- Daily Operations, Shipping/Receiving duties, site inspection/walk-throughs, and timely reporting of incidents outside of normal operating policy.

- Emergency Operations ; Primary point of contact/communications for staff, management, and emergency responders during a site incident.

- Administration, Shift change communications, documentation/reporting, maintaining a tidy work environment.

- Customer Service; Meet or exceed established Service Desk and/or individual goals of customer satisfaction.

- Continuous Improvement; Identify and report to the Data Centre Manager any situation or concerns that would improve quality or mitigate risk.

 

What you will bring:

- Excellent English language verbal and written communication skills.

- High School graduate with some Post-Secondary education preferred.

- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

- Customer service experience

- Ability to work shifts that may include morning, afternoon, evening, and/or overnight on weekdays or on the weekend.

- Strong ability to build rapport with co-workers and clients.

- Ability to work calmly in high pressure situations.

- Must be able to provide a clear background check and credit check as well as obtain Reliability Level Security.

Job Summary

Under supervision of the Traffic Operations Superintendent and/or Manager, this position supervises all activities performed by Traffic Signal Electricians.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervises, organizes, directs, assigns and monitors the work of electricians engaged in the installation and maintenance of city-owned electronic equipment and systems, primarily involving traffic control systems, radio communication systems, inventory control and shop maintenance.
  • Ensures the effective use of staff, equipment and materials through planning and coordination with the Traffic Operations Superintendent.
  • Monitors, evaluates and prepares reports concerning established Electronics Shop work programs, work methods, equipment and quality control standards; recommends improvements when necessary.
  • Evaluates the performance of subordinate staff through the monitoring of daily work activities and records.  Provides performance evaluations through the performance management system; takes remedial action when required.  Assists with the training of employees, including Apprenticeship, Technical and Safety training, to ensure performance standards are attainable.
  • Ensures that work activities are performed in accordance with approved safety procedures and standards.
  • Ensures that work activities are performed in accordance with approved construction and maintenance standards.
  • Communicate with a variety of groups regarding signal projects including internal staff, various contractors, consultants, developers, surveyors and other utility groups.
  • Assists with the preparation of the annual capital and operating budgets, including assisting with the preparation of monthly/annual reviews and cost reports.
  • Ensures that all electrical installations are properly permitted through TSASK (Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan).
  • Ensures work performed is in accordance to the CEC (Canadian Electrical Code).
  • Ensures that new electrical service requests are submitted to SaskPower.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements: 

  • Grade 12 education, including Math B30 (Algebra 30), Math C30 (Geo-Trigonometry 30) and Physics 30.
  • Possession of a Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician Certificate
  • Possession of a Saskatchewan Unrestricted Journeyperson Electrical License
  • Five years' experience as a Journeyman with minimum 2 years’ experience working with Traffic Signals.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
     

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: 

  • Thorough knowledge of equipment, materials and practises associated with all aspects of the installation and maintenance of traffic control systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction, repair and maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of the CEC (Canadian Electrical Code)
  • Thorough knowledge of the Electrical Licensing Act 
  • Considerable knowledge of WHMIS and other pertinent occupational health and safety standards.

The Fleet and Manufacturing Services supports the City of Vancouver in being a service provider in all aspects of Fleet Management. This is a semi-skilled shift work performed on a variety of City Fleet including Equipment.

 

Fleet and Manufacturing Services has four locations Manitoba Yard, National Yard, Evans Yard, and Burns Bog (located in Delta). Successful candidates must be able to work Monday to Friday from 3:10pm to 12:34 am and may be required to adjust shifts as operationally required.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

The Operations Worker II performs servicing, minor repairs, and fueling either in the shop or in the field as instructed. Other duties include, ferrying of vehicles, cleaning of the shop, inside and outside, vehicles, equipment,and car wash as directed and all other related duties.

 

This position requires the successful candidate to use the Fleet and Manufacturing Services’ electronic fleet management system, currently Asset Works M5 and/or other computer software deemed relevant to fleet maintenance. After initial instructions, oral or written, from the supervisor, this work is then performed in accordance with prescribed schedules and subject to a quality review and conformance to established standards.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Up to completion of high school and some work experience.
  • Completion of a recognized pre-apprenticeship training course in the preferred trade of heavy-duty mechanic and/or other related mechanical experience would be an asset.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Sound knowledge of standard practices, methods, the tools, material and equipment used in the vehicle maintenance and servicing.
  • Knowledge of safe work procedures.
  • Some knowledge of the hazards and proper safety aspects of the vehicle maintenance and servicing.
  • Some knowledge of the functions of the branch concerned and the established practices in vehicle maintenance and servicing.
  • Ability to exercise some independence of judgment and action in the routine or simple aspects of the work.
  • Ability to courteously answer questions and deal with the public.
  • Sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to perform heavy physical labour.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull heavy objects.

  • A current and valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and a Satisfactory National Safety Code driving record are required.

    • 5 years accumulation of no more than 9 points, not in excess of 3 points per single year
    • 3 years accumulation of no more than 1 preventable work related driving or equipment operating accident in any single year

Qualifications 
Education and Experience:

  • Experience with and knowledge of the issues facing people experiencing homelessness, mental illness, addiction, impacts of colonialism, and/or poverty is an asset.

JOB SUMMARY

The mandate of Water Services is to provide treatment and distribution of a sustainable supply of high-quality drinking water and is committed to protecting the environment by collecting and treating wastewater for the health and prosperity of Ottawa. 

You are responsible for planned, unplanned and emergency inspection, testing, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and/or repair of electrical and electronic equipment within Water Services’ water treatment, supply and storage facilities (including the Water Purification Plants, pumping stations, reservoirs, elevated tanks, metering facilities and well treatment systems) or wastewater treatment and collection facilities (including wastewater treatment plant, pumping stations, odour control facilities, and regulators). 

These duties are carried out in an industrial, production and quality-focused environment and, as such, must be completed in consideration of, and in close coordination with, other skilled trade and maintenance staff in the Branch.

As a licensed water treatment, wastewater treatment and/or wastewater collection system operator, you are also responsible for operating various pieces of process equipment (in Drinking Water this spans water treatment, distribution and supply process equipment and in Wastewater this spans wastewater treatment and collection process equipment) and/or adjusting various water or wastewater treatment system process parameters, after prior consultation with and in close coordination with other licensed operating staff in the Branch.

Note this equipment includes, but is not limited to:  electrical power supply, distribution and generating equipment (up to 44kV), generators (up to 4.8MW), motors (up to 1.5MW), associated motor starter and control equipment, power cabling, transformers, standby, emergency and uninterruptable power systems, lighting systems, power control and lighting panels, electric actuators, electrical metering and monitoring systems, instrumentation and control equipment, and building services equipment. The equipment may or may not be energized, during the work, and is located in a variety of locations including chemical feed and storage areas, electrical equipment rooms, machine rooms, generator rooms, pump rooms, valve rooms and chambers, confined spaces, elevated tanks, above and below grade reservoirs, outdoor power substations, office areas, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of Industrial Electrician or Construction and Maintenance Electrician apprenticeship program of 9000 hours.  

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a licensed Industrial Electrician or Construction and Maintenance Electrician in a combination of both process-dependant industries and construction services including demonstrated experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of low, medium and high voltage electrical equipment and the installation, construction and commissioning of low, medium and high voltage electrical systems.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Electrician-Construction and Maintenance 309A or Industrial Electrician 442A
Must obtain and maintain Ontario MOE Operator-in-Training Certificate within the applicable Drinking Water/Wastewater process area, within the timeframe determined by the employer
Must obtain and maintain Ontario MOE Class 1 Operator Certificate within the applicable Drinking Water/Wastewater process area, within the timeframe determined by the employer
Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
Transportation of Dangerous Goods training certificate approved in Ontario
Must obtain Mobile Crane Operator 0-8 ton (P930030) training certificate within the timeframe determined by the employer
Must obtain Ontario unrestricted DZ class driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) within the timeframe determined by the employer
Must obtain Ontario Restricted class AZ (condition R) driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) within the timeframe determined by the employer
Must complete all required on-the-job training/certifications (e.g. WHMIS, fall arrest, confined space entry, etc.) within the timeframe determined by the employer.
