The Role
This role is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by promoting safety and rehabilitation in our communities. The Probation Officer will supervise and support adults under judicial or quasi-judicial orders, helping them meet their legal obligations and reduce criminal behavior. Using trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches, they will assess risks and needs, develop case management plans, and connect clients with community resources. Probation Officers will also deliver core programs to clients. This work directly contributes to fostering meaningful change in the lives of individuals and the communities they belong to. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree from a Canadian designated educational institution; OR,
- Completion of a two-year diploma and 3 years of full-time related experience (or equivalent) working with people with complex social, health, or legal needs; OR,
- Sixty (60) credits of post-secondary education towards a diploma and 3 years of full-time related experience (or equivalent) working with people with complex social, health, or legal needs.
Note: If post-secondary education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services. You must provide a Comprehensive Report from ICES by the closing date of this posting to be considered.

- Successful completion of the Adult Probation Officer pre-requisite course (CORR1000). Exemptions can be found in the Job Profile.
- A valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s license without restrictions or an equivalent Canadian driver’s license is required. A valid BC Class 7 may be considered.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- A minimum of 6 months experience as a Probation Officer/Probation Officer 15 in a Community Corrections office.
- A minimum of 12 months experience working with people with complex social, health, or legal needs.
Proviso / Willingness Statement:
- Willing to work with adult clients who may have multiple legal, health, social, and/or mental health challenges and/or clients who have committed or alleged to have committed criminal acts including intimate partner violence or sexually motivated offences.
- Successful applicants will be required to submit to a driver’s abstract review for the last five-year period.
- Successful applicants will be required to participate in and successfully complete the position’s training requirements.
- Part-time employees may require adjustments to hours of work while on basic training.
- Overnight travel to remote locations and working outside typical work hours may be required.

About this Position:
This posting is to fill one permanent, full-time Probation Officer position in either Fort St. John or Dawson Creek.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future permanent and temporary full-time and part-time positions in both locations.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to one (1) day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.

Court Services Branch is responsible for delivery of all court administration and sheriff services in the province of British Columbia. This includes case documentation and adjudication support, court and courthouse security and court order enforcement. The branch continually develops innovative reforms to increase access and improve processes to ensure services are effective and efficient. In developing reforms, the branch works closely with the judiciary, Crown prosecutors, the bar, police, and corrections authorities.
The Role
The Court Clerk provides administrative support to all levels of the Court in the province by performing pre-court, in-court, and post court duties and providing front counter court services.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED).
- Minimum of two years’ administrative support or customer service experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum of one-year previous work experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, and working with standard computer applications and software programs (e.g., Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Keyboard speed of 40 words per minute.
- Valid B.C. drivers’ licence.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Experience in court programs and applications (e.g., JUSTIN, CEIS, ARC, CTAS, CCD).

The team works closely with all other HR Centers of Excellence (COE) to provide the tools, analytics, and data-driven insights that support current and future business needs.

What you Bring
Must have:

10+ years of progressive experience in people analytics, workforce intelligence, or organizational insights roles

8+ years of experience in a consultative or advisory capacity, partnering with senior leaders and business stakeholders

Relevant post-secondary degree or equivalent in related field (data analytics/science, economics, industrial-organizational psychology, statistics, organizational behaviour, human resources, business administration)

This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
The compensation range for this role is $175,000 - $220,000 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
