The Trailer Technician is responsible for preventative maintenance, pre-inspection maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on the company’s fleet of trailers in accordance with the applicable level of training and apprenticeship.

 

How You’ll Help: 

  • Responsible for the maintenance and repair of trailers according to work orders and in keeping with level of training/apprenticeship (see below)
  • Maintaining safe shop environment (may include snow removal from the roof, de-icing, washing vehicles, sweeping, etc.
  • Pre-apprentice Trailer Technicians provide support to journeypersons and to apprentices under the leadership of a journeyperson in all aspects of the maintenance and repair of trailers, including but not limited to brakes, suspension systems, surelok, tires (including psi), trailer axles, lighting systems, rear walls and doors, frame and support, chassis, lighting, wiring, hydraulics, heating & refrigeration systems.
  • Apprentice Trailer Technicians, under the leadership of a journeyperson, are involved in all aspects of the repair and maintenance of trailers (see above) and may provide general direction and guidance to Pre-Apprentice Technicians. Apprentice Technicians are expected to work more independently and exercise greater judgment through the various stages of the apprenticeship, obtaining final verification of work from a Journeyperson Technician.
  • Journeyperson Technicians independently repair and maintain trailers (see above) and provide general direction, guidance, mentoring and training to Pre-Apprentice and Apprentice Technicians.
  • Maintenance and repair of trailer bodies, including miscellaneous accessories such as hub caps, decals, reflective tape, painting, etc.
  • Documentation of all findings and work done.
  • Lead Journeyperson Technicians provide work direction for all team members and act as escalation point for complex maintenance and repairs.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and training to Pre-Apprentice and Apprentice Technicians
  • Work independently to complete diagnostic, service, repair and maintain trailers.
  • Maintain and repair trailer bodies, including miscellaneous accessories such as hubcaps, decals, reflective tape, painting, etc.
  • Document and update Service Supervisor/Service Manager on completion time changes, all findings, work done and potential future service requirements.
  • Other duties as may be required.

 

Your Skills and Experience: 

  • Post-secondary training in trailer repair and/or completion of trailer technician certificate course
  • Preference given to applicants with Red Seal journeyperson certification
  • Additional training in tire repairs and/or refrigeration will be considered an asset
  • CVIP or ability to obtain CVIP is an asset
  • Candidates enrolled in trailer repair apprenticeship may also be considered.
  • Valid Class 1 license also considered an asset
  • Previous work experience in an industrial environment, preferably in the transportation industry
  • Previous experience and qualification to perform Safety inspections are considered an asset in this position,
  • Ability to obtain CVIP
  • Physically fit and able to lift, move, reach, bend, walk, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel and crouch for extended period of time
  • Ability to work in tight spaces
  • Strong knowledge of transportation industry’s rules and regulations regarding transport trailers and components

JOB SUMMARY

The mandate of Water Services is to provide treatment and distribution of a sustainable supply of high-quality drinking water and is committed to protecting the environment by collecting and treating wastewater for the health and prosperity of Ottawa. 

You are responsible for planned, unplanned and emergency inspection, testing, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and/or repair of electrical and electronic equipment within Water Services’ water treatment, supply and storage facilities (including the Water Purification Plants, pumping stations, reservoirs, elevated tanks, metering facilities and well treatment systems) or wastewater treatment and collection facilities (including wastewater treatment plant, pumping stations, odour control facilities, and regulators). 

These duties are carried out in an industrial, production and quality-focused environment and, as such, must be completed in consideration of, and in close coordination with, other skilled trade and maintenance staff in the Branch.

As a licensed water treatment, wastewater treatment and/or wastewater collection system operator, you are also responsible for operating various pieces of process equipment (in Drinking Water this spans water treatment, distribution and supply process equipment and in Wastewater this spans wastewater treatment and collection process equipment) and/or adjusting various water or wastewater treatment system process parameters, after prior consultation with and in close coordination with other licensed operating staff in the Branch.

Note this equipment includes, but is not limited to:  electrical power supply, distribution and generating equipment (up to 44kV), generators (up to 4.8MW), motors (up to 1.5MW), associated motor starter and control equipment, power cabling, transformers, standby, emergency and uninterruptable power systems, lighting systems, power control and lighting panels, electric actuators, electrical metering and monitoring systems, instrumentation and control equipment, and building services equipment. The equipment may or may not be energized, during the work, and is located in a variety of locations including chemical feed and storage areas, electrical equipment rooms, machine rooms, generator rooms, pump rooms, valve rooms and chambers, confined spaces, elevated tanks, above and below grade reservoirs, outdoor power substations, office areas, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of Industrial Electrician or Construction and Maintenance Electrician apprenticeship program of 9000 hours.  

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a licensed Industrial Electrician or Construction and Maintenance Electrician in a combination of both process-dependant industries and construction services including demonstrated experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of low, medium and high voltage electrical equipment and the installation, construction and commissioning of low, medium and high voltage electrical systems.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Electrician-Construction and Maintenance 309A or Industrial Electrician 442A
Must obtain and maintain Ontario MOE Operator-in-Training Certificate within the applicable Drinking Water/Wastewater process area, within the timeframe determined by the employer
Must obtain and maintain Ontario MOE Class 1 Operator Certificate within the applicable Drinking Water/Wastewater process area, within the timeframe determined by the employer
Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
Transportation of Dangerous Goods training certificate approved in Ontario
Must obtain Mobile Crane Operator 0-8 ton (P930030) training certificate within the timeframe determined by the employer
Must obtain Ontario unrestricted DZ class driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) within the timeframe determined by the employer

 Credentials

· Experience with APQP: Process Control Plans, PFMEA, Gauge Planning, and all levels of PPAP requirements.

· Read operating and quality assurance reports to understand technical and operational information about facilities, processes and equipment.

· Familiarity in drawing interpretations and geometric dimensional tolerancing.

· Working knowledge in gauging methods, calibration, and gauge R and R’s.

· Ability to take precise measurements using specialized equipment and techniques.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Time and Attendance Supervisor, this position ensures the integrity of the data, and the time and attendance information used for payroll processing in the City’s ERP system. Duties & Responsibilities

1.    Coordinates, administers, reviews and corrects time sheet data for both hourly and salary employees, ensuring appropriate application of time rules and applicable premiums are in compliance with collective agreements, policies and procedures.
2.    Analyses and applies time off entitlements to accurately reflect special situations such as, leave of absences, Workers Compensation Board (“WCB”) loss time corrections, policy profile transfers etc.
3.    Prepares or assists with the preparation of reports, reconciliations, and analysis, including compliance monitoring for timesheet submission and approval, vacation balances, and other key performance indicators.
4.    Researches and responds to a variety of enquiries pertaining to time and attendance from staff, supervisors and managers in other departments, employees and outside agencies.  
5.    Assists with the review, development, implementation and revision of standards, controls, processes, procedures and forms related to the time and attendance system and is involved with identifying and developing new system initiatives and efficiencies.
6.    Processes time adjustments and bank pay out calculations for in-scope staff relating to terminations, retirements, demotions, promotions, suspensions, disciplinary actions, arbitration awards, leaves of absences, retroactive pay, and salary increments.
7.    Assists with testing time and attendance system software upgrades, enhancements relating to CBA changes and troubleshooting time errors as required.
8.    Responsible to develop and maintain procedure documentation for applicable time and attendance processes.
9.    Responsible to provide mentorship and training to Time and Attendance Administrators, and other members of the department as required.
10.    Performs al the duties of Time and Attendance Administrators as required.
11.    Performs other related duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements:
    Grade 12 education.
    Successful completion of a recognized one-year post-secondary business-related program (i.e., Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration).
    A professional Canadian payroll designation, such as Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) would be considered an asset.
    Five years' progressively related experience in time and attendance processing, scheduling, or other payroll related activities.
    Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite programs; including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint.  
    Experience working with payroll in a large size ERP (SAP-S4) enabled organization.  Experience with SAP S4/HANA Payroll, SuccessFactors, and WorkForce would be considered an asset.

Job Summary

Under supervision of the designated Department staff, this position contributes as a technical expert, ensuring the success of the residential building permit plan review and inspection program by performing assigned plan review and/or building inspection duties to ensure compliance with life, fire, health and construction safety requirements of the Building Bylaw, the National Building Code of Canada, and The Construction Codes Act and Regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reviews and approves residential and non-complex commercial applications in accordance with applicable codes, bylaws, acts, and standards, and advises owners, designers and contractors of any application deficiencies.
  • Schedules, prioritizes, and inspects all buildings and other structures and installations during all phases of construction to ensure compliance with approved plans and applicable codes, bylaws, acts, and standards.
  • Maintains records and issues reports of inspections, including action taken and recommendations; conducts subsequent inspections to determine if infractions have been rectified.
  • Circulates plans for review and approval by all divisions and other civic departments and subsequently reviews approved plans for completeness; prepares plans for permit issuance; notifies the applicant that the permit is ready and issues the building permit.
  • Provides brochures and technical assistance related to the National Building Code, the Swimming Pool Bylaw, The Construction Codes Act and regulations under the Act.
  • Assists in the preparation, issuance, maintenance and closure of correction notices, stop work orders, and orders to remedy contravention.
  • Monitors assigned areas to ensure that building permits are obtained for construction activity.
  • Reviews older permits and files for closure and takes enforcement action as necessary to obtain compliance.
  • Performs special inspections related to complaints, fire damaged buildings, building relocations, as well as pre-approval inspections for such things as fireplaces, personal care homes and day care centres.
  • Assists with the development Departmental operational procedures based on the building plan review and inspection program, Bylaws, Codes and Act.
  • Assist with training of staff as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Training Requirements: 

  • Grade 12 education;
  • Graduation from a recognized, two-year, post-secondary architectural, mechanical, civil or other related engineering technology program, plus five years’ progressive related building construction experience;
    OR Possession of a Saskatchewan Journeyman Carpenter Certificate, including completion of a recognized apprenticeship program plus five years' progressive related journeyman trade experience.
  • Possession of a valid Level 2 Saskatchewan Building Official Licence.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's License, and a vehicle suitable for use in the performance of duties; AND
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
