Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Be deeply involved in progressive, proactive maintenance routines, with a philosophy deeply rooted in a predictive approach. 
  • Troubleshooting and execution of identified corrective maintenance requirements. 
  • Carry out documented work requests and apply corrective action 
  • Perform assigned work orders and account for inventory and labour on a computerized maintenance management system(SAP). 
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance routines and update maintenance records.
  • Interpret electrical code specifications
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices
  • Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, variable frequency drives, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic/pneumatic electrical control systems
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
  • Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic, ethernet and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components.
  • Ensure all job-related operations follow GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practice), HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) and health & safety requirements. 
  • Understand and adhere to all plant Food/Health and Safety Polices. 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Red Seal Certification (Ontario Electrician license), with proven industrial field experience (3 years or greater preferred). 
  • Knowledge of the design, techniques and tools applied in electronic and electrical applications, with experience in pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Ability to collaborate with automation engineers.
  • Operate production equipment and evaluate performance as required
  • Extensive knowledge of plant and process equipment operations. 
  • Ability to execute planned and scheduled daily tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Must have a full complement of personal/professional hand tools

    • The use of testing equipment such as vibration analysis as well as other techniques used in predictive and preventive maintenance.

The Counter Services team responds to community needs through the provision of optimum client service delivery employing a centralized one-stop approach. Counter Services consists of seven Client Services Centres and three Provincial Offences offices, which offer a variety of services such as pet registrations, marriage ceremonies, payment intake, parking permits and provincial court services to name a few. Counter Services staff process over 250,000 transactions and handle over $190 million in revenue per year for the City. 

You are responsible for providing information and customer service for a wide range of municipal and provincial services, programs, policies, procedures, permits and fee structures, as part of a team of agents, delivered through a ServiceOttawa Centre; ensuring service continuity in responding to inquiries and urgent requests from the public, elected officials, internal staff, and other government agencies through a variety of platforms, primarily by in-person and including electronic/web, email and phone in the most efficient and professional manner possible, minimizing referrals and transfers to other subject matter experts, where possible, and ensuring follow up where required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of Grade 12

Post-secondary education and/or training related to Customer Service is an asset

Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a customer service environment, providing service to the public by telephone, in person, in writing and electronically in a multi-service environment, such as a in call centre and/or a counter service operations 

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of customer service delivery mechanisms, practices and strategies to resolving customer related complaints
  • Computer literacy in MS Office Suite, internet/intranet and job specific programs such as ICON, IP360, Dynamics, Liberty Recording System, LAGAN, Knowledge BASE, Ottawa.ca, MAP, ITX, VTAX, H2O, ACTIVENet, PRESTO, SAP, VSTATS, etc.

Job Details

This position is responsible of process the customs clearance (release) and/or confirm declarations for non-complex to complex shipments guided by the CCBS system and personal skills. This role requires the handling of delivery service and/or import permits requests if required and/or gathering and sending proper documentation to the government. This position assesses all fees for the importation of international packages and performs general brokerage tasks.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assess duties, taxes, and brokerage fees of imported commodities.

  • Ensures assessment of duties and taxes adhere to local Customs and Revenue Agency regulations.

  • Contact customers on brokerage related matters.

  • Entry the data from the open customer’s files, validate information, credit, and invoicing.

  • Collect supplementary information or documentation from customers, drivers, custom and other offices, etc., when required.

  • Identify customer profiles discrepancies.

  • Answer standard questions and requests from customers, drivers, customs, and other offices.

  • Work as team member with other partners: clients, employees, carriers, inbound agents.

  • Identify business opportunities.

  • Rapid and efficient support; dossiers in order, productivity in number of files prepared.

  • Process on time and error free the information.

  • Follow operational guidelines; cross-selling.

  • Cooperate and assist with internal team members.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or International equivalent - Preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills:French 90% / English 10%

  • Level of French needed: proficiency 

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in customs operations - Required 

  • Customs Specialist (CCS) certification - Preferred

  • Brokerage certification - Preferred

  • Previous experience in a call center environment – Preferred

  • In-depth knowledge of customs operations, laws and regulations, and other government departments

  • In-depth knowledge of HS system, CUSMA (Canada, US, Mexico Agreement), and permit process

  • Intermediate computer skills: Microsoft Office

  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, basic research, attention to detail, and time management skills

How You’ll Help:

Your Skills & Experience:

•    Relevant post-secondary education, such as Business, Communications, Organizational Development, Adult Education or Human Resources, or a combination of education and experience will also be considered.
•    Prosci® certification or equivalent certification from accredited institution is considered an asset 
•    2-5+ years related experience in Organizational Change Management or a supporting perspective project environments in a communications, training or analysis capacity
•    Experience working on large & small scale projects is considered an asset 
•    Experience applying and/or knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools is considered an asset
•    Experience facilitating and guiding group workshops of various sizes and audience makeups.
