  • Support maintenance operations with parts requisitioning and inventory replenishment while remaining aligned with Supply Chain Management (SCM) strategic goals and initiatives.
  • Conduct comprehensive research, sourcing, quoting, requisitioning, and expediting of parts in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to maintenance and support personnel by promptly communicating delivery times and addressing inventory and material requests.
  • Inspects incoming parts and materials to verify shipment details and ensure adherence to purchase order quantities, pricing, terms, and quality assurance standards.
  • Record receipts in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, including scanning, maintaining, and completing delivery documentation.
  • Proactively investigate and monitor quotes, orders, and other requests, maintaining effective communication with vendors as necessary.
  • Coordinate pickups and shipments of materials, ensures timely returns of parts and cores, and process and monitor warranty claims.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a post-secondary parts management technician certificate program and Red Seal Certification; OR 3 to 4 experience years in a heavy or industrial vehicle and equipment parts environment and ability to obtain a Parts Management Technician Certificate within 18 months.
  • 3 to 4 experience years in a heavy or industrial vehicle and equipment parts environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience using an ERP/MRP replenishment system
  • Ability to complete WHMIS and Forklift Certification with 3 months of hire.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers license.
  • Assessment tests may be conducted to evaluate knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

1.    Manages the planning, design, and construction of complex water & sewer, roadways and other municipal rehabilitation or land development capital projects within the City of Saskatoon.
2.    Coordinates with internal civic departments, regulatory agencies, and utility companies on the planning, design, and approval of construction projects.
3.    Prepares preliminary and detailed cost estimates for budgeting and approvals.
4.    Coordinates with an internal project team consisting of survey, drafting, and engineering technicians to develop detailed construction drawings, material selections, technical specifications, contracts, and procurement documents.

10.    Investigates, evaluates, and recommends new or alternate technology or construction methodologies.

12.    Assists with internal process improvement initiatives as required.

Qualifications

•    Degree in Engineering.
•    Four to six years’ progressively responsible engineering experience in municipal water, sewer and roadways infrastructure.
•    Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan.
•    Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
•    Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.

Job Summary

Under the direction of a Powerline Technician and the supervision of the Powerline Foreman, this apprentice position performs trade duties as assigned in a trainee capacity.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains and repairs overhead and underground primary and secondary distribution and street lighting systems.
  • Installs, maintains and repairs energized and de-energized low voltage and high voltage lines and equipment.
  • Climbs poles and towers, or uses aerial bucket, ladder or platforms to work at various heights.
  • Installs, inspects, patrols, maintains, repairs, replaces, connects and disconnects various distribution system components, materials and equipment.
  • Ensures adherence to proper work procedures, safety standards, construction standards and other specifications.
  • Uses protective equipment such as insulated gloves, line hose, hoods, blankets and hot line tools for work with energized equipment.
  • Installs, replaces and maintains service lines and cables to customers. Responds to reports of customer power interruptions. Locates and repairs faults.
  • Records load and voltage readings with volt-amp meters, maximeter and recorders. Performs tests using phasing equipment, phase rotation tester, megger, ground resistance tester, cable fault equipment and other test devices.
  • Participates in safety and first aid programs, tool and equipment inspections and testing.
  • Maintains all tools and equipment pertaining to the trade.
  • Trims trees that interfere with electrical systems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 education, including, Physics 30 and one of the following: Foundations of Mathematics 30, Workplace and Apprenticeship 30 or Pre-Calculus 30 (classes equivalent to the former Math A30/Algebra 20 and C30/Trigonometry 30 will also be recognized).
  • Successful completion of Saskatoon Light & Power Pre-Apprenticeship Skill Assessment.
  • Pre-requisite includes either completion of Saskatoon Light & Power Pre-Apprenticeship term or already enrolled in the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship Program as a Powerline Technician. 
  • Following appointment, enrol in and complete successfully, the Saskatchewan Power Lineman Apprenticeship Program and receive a Saskatchewan Power Lineman Apprenticeship Certificate and complete four years of on-the-job training.
  • Possession of, or ability to successfully complete within 6 months after date of hire, a valid Saskatchewan Class 1A Driver’s Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned duties including the ability to climb poles and towers and work outside under varying weather conditions.

Weekly Hours: 37.33

Under supervision of the Administrative Coordinator, this position performs general administrative duties for the Project Services section of the Facilities Management Department.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Acts as the Receptionist, including answering telephone and in-person enquiries, arranging meetings, preparing agendas, and taking and transcribing minutes, as required.
  • Processes, records and prepares Purchasing Orders, Quotes, Tenders and Proposals, memos and reports Distributes documents to other departments.
  • Maintains office files and ensures all information is entered in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Enters and edits vendor information in the appropriate program.
  • Prepares a variety of correspondence for internal and external use.
  • Orders supplies as required.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Graduation from a recognized business college.
  • Typing speed of 55 w.p.m.
  • Two years' diversified general office experience.
  • Knowledge of business English and arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to make arithmetic calculations rapidly and accurately.
  • Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with suppliers, the public and other civic employees.
