Job Summary

Reports to the Planning & Scheduling Manager. This position assists in the coordination and delivery of municipal infrastructure Operations and Maintenance programs, as an Engineer-in-Training.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Assist with the development of condition and performance rating systems
  2. Assist with development and implementation of capacity planning, work measurement and tracking methods to support continuous improvement, reporting and benchmarking activities
  3. Assists with establishing preliminary programs and analysis for the operations, maintenance, and rehabilitation of infrastructure.
  4. Assists with the research and development of operations and maintenance policies, procedures, and applicable manuals.
  5. Assists with program consultation with other stakeholder groups.
  6. Assists with coordinating the planning, design and implementation of municipal infrastructure Operations and Maintenance programs.
  7. Performs and arranges inspections and ensures compliance of construction sites with specifications and Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
  8. Communicates effectively with field staff, management, co-workers, contractors and other civic departments to assist with planning, scheduling and coordinating work.
  9. Researches, including via other jurisdictions, and compiles statistical and other information to prepare reports and recommendations related to assigned programs and projects.
  10. Reviews, analyses, reports on, and provides recommendations relating to service levels and delivery of operations and maintenance programs. Supervises and trains subordinate staff as required.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
     

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan
  • 1-3 years’ experience in municipal infrastructure Operations and Maintenance planning.
  • A recognized Planning/Maintenance/Operations designation would be an asset.
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of CMMS/EAM systems would be an asset.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s Licence.
  • Knowledge of Roadways, Water, and Waste Operations and Maintenance strategies and tactics is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with civic staff, civic officials, representatives of other agencies and the public.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.

Job Details

Duties:

  1. Assists in processing and taking possession of exhibits by ensuring that all packaging, labelling, and accompanying computer, data entry and report form requirements are completed in accordance with SPS policy.
  2. Assists with exhibit redundancy by doing a secondary check of daily intake to ensure all exhibits are tagged and labelled correctly upon intake.
  3. Assists with the transfer, release, and disposal of exhibits in accordance with the Criminal Code, other relevant statutes, and SPS policy.
  4. Assists with the relocation, storage, physical inventory, and release of exhibits with a focus on absolute accuracy.
  5. Assists with the disposal and destruction of exhibits by referencing and continually updating files, determining the proper method and approvals for disposal and physically disposing of the exhibits. 
  6. Ensures the exhibit preparation area is adequately stocked with items required for the packaging and labelling of exhibits, and the exhibit office is stocked with the necessary office supplies.
  7. Provides backup support for other various office positions as needed.
  8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Graduation from a recognized business college.
  • Two years’ police office experience, including current RMS maintenance experience.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within six months of hire the International Association for Property and Evidence (IAPE) Designation.
  • Working knowledge of Versaterm RMS (Records Management System) Property Module.
  • Ability to review exhibit files for clarity, completeness, accuracy, and adherence to policy and procedure.
  • Ability to work safely and responsibly when handling and working with safety sensitive items.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple concurrent demands while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Hours of Work: 

Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:36 p.m.

Job Details

As an Alternative Response Officer, you have a unique role in the provision of public safety services in our city by providing investigative and enforcement support to police officers. One day you may find yourself walking the beat and facilitating outreach and referrals for vulnerable persons, and the next day, you may be guarding a crime scene or transporting arrested persons.

Direct Service Delivery

  • Walking the beat, facilitating outreach and referral for vulnerable persons and enforcing infractions under provincial and municipal legislation
  • Meeting with human service agency and civic workers
  • Meeting with community members and business owners
  • Participating in parades, ceremonies and public events

Enforcement Support

  • Assisting units with traffic-related events and escorts
  • Transporting arrested persons
  • Providing assistance in Detention and at the Headquarters Service Centre

Investigative Support

  • Taking complaints from citizens and writing police reports
  • Retrieving physical and imagery evidence from citizens/locations
  • Guarding crime scenes, vehicles and people

Salary: ~$92,758 after five years.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Bachelor of Social Work, Human Justice, or Arts with a focus in human studies; or a grade 12 or GED.
  • Must pass the POPAT with a minimum time of 4:45.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or have permanent residency.

  • Valid, unrestricted class 5 driver’s license.
  • No criminal convictions for which a Pardon has not been granted.
  • No recent illicit drug use.
  • No medical restrictions that would hinder ability to perform ARO duties.
  • Minimum acceptable acuity is 20/60 in each eye or 20/40 in one eye and 20/100 in the other. This acuity is without any corrective lenses. (You will be contacted by a recruiter to have a vision and hearing test, during the recruitment process)

  • Satisfactory employment record.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate.
